What is MagicPixel MCP?

MagicPixel MCP is a Model Context Protocol connector that lets AI assistants generate game-ready pixel art, create variants and directional sheets, browse the marketplace, and manage your library — results land in your MagicPixel account. Paste the server URL into ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor, approve once on magicpixel.art, then ask the assistant to generate.

Generation can take up to about a minute.

Connect

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT Connectors → Advanced and enable Developer mode.
  2. In the chat composer's + menu, turn on Developer mode.
  3. Click Add sources → Connect more.
  4. Name the connector MagicPixel and paste the URL above.
  5. Approve on magicpixel.art. Then ask ChatGPT to generate an asset.

Claude

  1. Open Claude Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Name the connector MagicPixel and paste the URL above.
  3. Enable it from the chat composer, approve on magicpixel.art, then ask Claude to generate.

Cursor (advanced)

Cursor's built-in HTTP MCP fails OAuth today. Use the patched local proxy in tools/cursor-mcp from the MagicPixel source tree. Full steps are inSettings → Agent integrations.

Check the app name before you approve

The MagicPixel consent screen shows the OAuth app's registered name. Any developer can register a client, so approve only if the name matches the assistant you're connecting from. These are the names we recognise as authentic MCP consumers:

  • Claude
  • ChatGPT
  • Cursor
  • Windsurf
  • Codex
  • MCP CLI Proxy

Anything else — including lookalikes like "MagicPixel Official" — shows an Unverified app warning on the consent screen. Deny and report it if the name doesn't match what you expect.

Refresh after MagicPixel updates

Connected assistants cache the tool list. When we ship new capabilities, refresh the connector so your assistant picks them up.

ChatGPT

  1. Open app preferences and pick MagicPixel under Enabled apps.
  2. Next to Information, click Refresh.
  3. Start a new chat and ask ChatGPT to use MagicPixel.

Claude

  1. Open the Connectors page and select MagicPixel.
  2. Refresh the connector's tools.
  3. Ask Claude to use MagicPixel.
